Finite and Infinite Games

Sun Jun 14, 2009, 12:27 PM
If our brains could contemplate existence in it's entirety, we would all be laughing hysterically. Because human nature is no different than nature, and nature is math. So why don't we see life as a math equation? Our brains cannot comprehend the math, so we cope with this dissonance through a human-born concept called faith. Even beyond religion, we put faith in the fact that human nature is somehow special so we make meaning out of our existence. This intangible meaning is what keeps us playing the infinite game of progression. When we see the universe devoid of our percieved meaning, stripped down to the math, it is beatiful, but it is pointless and all we can do is laugh at this pointless construct until we reassert subjective meaning.

So why even think about this if we function better under this illusion? Well, since meaning is subjective, one person's meaningful existence can often come into conflict with that of other people. This slows down the pace of the infinite game of human progress. Given this, in order to play this infinite game most efficiently, all players must acknowledge that math is at work in every situation ever. Period. What we think, how we feel: it's all just math. Then of course we apply biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, etc. to make more sense of this math in "the real world".

But if it is all just math, then we can become enlightened in the fact that we are all perfect, since math is the most elemental form of perfection. If our universe was a computer simulation, it would be completely devoid of glitches. So each human may have what they perceive to be problems, but they can take solace in the fact that mathematically, we are all perfect.
